Cleaner cutouts for portraits and products

Choose an image to remove its background and clean its edges automatically. Use both previews to inspect the cutout and make any final edits.

Refine hair and clothing

  1. When the editor detects a person, it automatically checks the hair, body and clothing. Open Before and after to inspect the result. Use Refine hair to clean the current cutout further.
  2. Check hair on both previews. Zoom to 2× or 3× to see fine edges. If a pale border remains around dark hair, try Reduce halo.
  3. Open Edit and use a small Restore brush to bring back a strand or part of a shirt. Brush away stray pixels or select them with a rectangle. You can undo or redo changes before applying them.

Try Clean specks if you see a thin line near the image border or isolated spots. Review the result before downloading, especially around thin cords or straps.

Prepare product photos

Use Auto for products such as headphones or clothing photographed on its own. To remove a connected patch inside an opening, try Remove color. Use a brush when the product and background are similar in color.

Choose a square 1:1 frame, a vertical 4:5 post or a 9:16 story. Use Export preview to see how the subject is centered in the chosen frame.

Choose a file format and size

Transparent PNG
Use this format to layer a person or product over another design. Choose Transparent in the export settings.
JPG
Use this format for a finished image with a white or colored background.
Original size
Keeps the original framing. The longest side is capped at 1024 pixels for free, 2048 pixels for HD, or 4096 pixels for 4K.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the first image take longer?

Your browser loads the cutout models on first use. Once they are ready, the editor processes the image on your device.

What happens to a transparent PNG?

The editor keeps existing transparency and checks the edges for residue. If part of the subject was already erased from the file, use the original image to bring it back.

Can I return to the automatic cutout?

Use Undo after changing the model or editing the edges. Reset restores the automatic result for the current model.
